Privacy Policy

Watchwords is a paid brand-monitoring service. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can delete it. It applies to the product at this website, including the landing page email list.

Who we are

Watchwords is operated by the team behind this product. For privacy requests email privacy@getwatchwords.com.

What we collect

• Account. Email address and sign-in details through Clerk. We store your Clerk user id and email so we can recognise you.
• Billing. Stripe handles cards and VAT. We store Stripe customer and subscription ids, plan, and payment status. We do not store full card numbers.
• Brand profile and keywords. Company name, one-liner, industry, website, audience, and the phrases you ask us to watch.
• Mentions. Matching excerpts and source links from X and from AI answers (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini). Internal AI prompts stay in your account and are not shown as mention titles.
• Alerts. If you turn a channel on: email address (Resend), web-push subscription keys, and/or a Telegram chat id after you link the bot.
• Landing list. If you use “Notify me”, we store that email so we can write later. We do not send a newsletter yet.

Why we use it

To run your account, take payment, scan the sources on your plan, show mentions, send the alerts you enabled, generate an AI visibility PDF if you ask for one, and keep the product working. We do not sell your data.

Who we share it with

Processors that help us run the service: Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments and tax), our database host, Vercel (hosting), twitterapi.io or another X provider for keyword search, OpenAI / Anthropic / Google for AI visibility scans, Resend for email, and Telegram if you link alerts. Each only gets what that job needs.

Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar storage for sign-in (Clerk) and to keep the site working. We do not run a third-party advertising pixel on this product.

How long we keep it

While your account exists. If you delete your account from Billing or Pricing, we remove your Watchwords user, keywords, mentions, alert links, Stripe customer, and Clerk login. Stripe may retain payment records as the law requires.

Your rights

You can access and update your profile and keywords in the app, download an AI visibility PDF where your plan allows, and delete your account at any time. You can also email privacy@getwatchwords.com to ask what we hold or to request deletion. If you are in the UK or EEA you may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
